How to buy Office
Pick how many seats below. Checkout asks for two more things: the company name to print on the licence, and your administrator's email. You pay once, by card, and no card is kept on file. The licence file comes back by email inside a business day, usually much sooner, with three steps for adding it.
Adding people later is a new purchase against the same license, and you get a replacement file covering the new total. Thirty days before your updates run out I'll email you a renewal link. Nothing is ever charged automatically.
Nothing waits on the licence either: the server runs every feature free for 30 days from the first time it starts.

Is the free version really free for business use?
Yes. One person can use every tool on paid work for as long as they want. No account, no ads, no expiry.
What's the catch?
Free is one person working alone. When the office wants shared sets, live markups and one tool chest for everybody, that's Office.
Is Office a subscription?
No. You buy it once per seat. The first year of updates is included. After that updates are $100 per seat per year, and they're optional.
What if I stop paying for updates?
Everything keeps working on the version you have, forever. What you stop getting is the signed update channel: new versions the hour they're published, each one signed with a key I keep offline and checked by your own copy before it installs.
Can I try Office first?
Yes. 30 days with every feature, any number of people, and no card.
What happens when the trial ends?
Nothing is deleted or locked away. Everyone can still open and export every drawing and markup. Sharing new work through the server pauses until you add a license.
How are seats counted?
One per person with an account on your server. Someone using the free app without signing in to your server doesn't count.
Where are my drawings stored?
On your own machines and your own server. I never receive your drawings, markups, takeoff or tool chests, and there's nowhere for them to go.
Does it phone home?
It asks GitHub whether a newer version was published. That's the only connection it makes on its own, and it sends nothing about you. Sealed turns even that off. Every connection, listed.
Can I use the drawings and tool chests I already have?
Yes. It opens PDFs with their existing markups in place, and it reads .bpx and .btx chests with their tools, columns and unit weights.
Does it run on a Mac?
Yes. The same program, from the same source, in one universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel, signed and notarized by Apple. macOS 11 Big Sur or later. The Office server is Windows only, and a Mac seat connects to it exactly as a Windows seat does. Download for Mac.
Can I see the source?
Yes, all of it: github.com/cngmoney88/excalibur-view, under the Elastic License 2.0. Read it, change it, build it yourself. What you can't do is offer it to other people as a service or work around the licensing. That's source-available, not open source, and I'd rather say so plainly than misuse the term. Both parts are published, the app and the Office server. What you buy is a licence to use the server, not access to the code. The licence in plain words.
We do defense work. Does this make us compliant?
No. Nothing does on its own. What View does is keep the drawings inside your own network, which is what a lot of your NIST SP 800-171 obligations are about. For a locked-down setup, ask about Sealed.
